The African Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFFIT) recorded another major milestone in its commitment to educational transformation and teacher empowerment as it successfully carried out a series of impactful Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programs and induction ceremonies across Kaduna State, the Federal Capital Territory, and Kwara State between Friday, 15th May and Saturday, 16th May, 2026.

 

The two-day nationwide engagement demonstrated AFFIT’s growing influence and unwavering dedication to raising the standard of education in Nigeria through capacity building, innovation, and professional excellence among teachers.

Kaduna State: Empowering Teachers Through Training and Induction

In Kaduna State, AFFIT teams simultaneously carried out intensive professional development training sessions at both the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Unguwan Sarki, Kaduna, and Zaria International School, Kofan Kuyanbana, Zaria.

The training programs focused on equipping teachers with modern teaching methodologies, innovative classroom practices, leadership development, and professional ethics aimed at improving learning outcomes and strengthening the education sector.

The atmosphere throughout the sessions reflected enthusiasm, collaboration, and renewed hope as teachers actively participated in discussions and practical learning exercises designed to prepare them for the demands of 21st-century education.

On Saturday, 16th May, 2026, both institutions hosted grand finale and induction ceremonies for the newly trained teachers. The induction marked the formal admission of participants into the growing community of AFFIT Teacher Fellows, recognizing their commitment to professional growth and educational excellence.

The ceremonies were filled with excitement, celebration, and inspiration as educators pledged to become agents of transformation within their schools and communities.

Kwara State Records Another Milestone

At Ilorin Grammar School (IGS), Kwara State, AFFIT also held the grand finale and induction ceremony of over 30 newly trained Teacher Fellows on 16th May, 2026.

The event represented another significant stride toward educational advancement and professional development among teachers in the state.

Distinguished dignitaries present at the ceremony included:

  • Pastor Aaron Akande, Director of the School and College Teaching Service Commission, Kwara State
  • Comrade Segun Oyebanji, Education Secretary of Ifelodun Local Government
  • Mr. Boloji Aliu Umaru, Assistant Secretary of the Teaching Service Commission
  • Aremo Yinka, Principal of Airport Secondary School, Ilorin

Their presence underscored the growing recognition and support for AFFIT’s vision of building a stronger and more innovative educational system in Nigeria.

Speakers at the event commended AFFIT for its consistency in promoting teacher excellence and for creating opportunities that inspire educators to continuously improve themselves professionally and personally.

Abuja Chapter Celebrates Fellowship and Unity

While the trainings and inductions were ongoing in Kaduna and Kwara States, the AFFIT Abuja Chapter also took time during its monthly meeting to celebrate members and fellows marking their birthdays and anniversaries in the month of May.

The celebration reflected the strong sense of unity, family, and fellowship within the AFFIT community, further reinforcing the organization’s people-centered approach to leadership and development.
