Abuja — Education Partnership for Sustainable Impact
The African Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFFiT) has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) on 8th August 2025, marking a major step toward strengthening teacher education, research, and institutional development in Nigeria.
The partnership is designed to promote collaboration between both organizations in advancing innovative teaching practices, expanding research opportunities, and enhancing the professional capacity of educators across Colleges of Education nationwide.
Strategic Review Meeting Holds at COEASU Secretariat
Following the signing of the MoU, the leadership of AFFiT and COEASU held a strategic partnership review meeting on Saturday, 6th September 2025, at the COEASU Secretariat.
The meeting provided an opportunity to assess progress made since the agreement was executed and to outline implementation strategies for upcoming joint programs.
Focus Areas of the Partnership
Discussions during the meeting centered on key priority areas, including:
Promoting innovation in teaching and learning
Strengthening research collaboration among academic staff
Expanding teacher capacity-building initiatives
Enhancing digital learning and ICT skills for educators
Scaling joint academic programs with national impact
Both organizations reaffirmed their shared commitment to building a teacher workforce equipped for the demands of 21st-century education.
Committees Established for Implementation
To ensure effective coordination and sustained outcomes, joint committees were constituted to oversee the execution of agreed initiatives, monitor progress, and strengthen collaboration between AFFiT and COEASU.
This step is expected to translate the MoU from policy into practical, measurable results within the education sector.

The AFFiT–COEASU partnership reflects a strong alignment of vision toward repositioning teacher education in Nigeria and across Africa.
