The African Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFFiT) has entered into a landmark partnership to train twenty thousand (20,000) teachers across Benue South Senatorial District (Zone C) in a major education capacity development initiative aimed at strengthening teaching quality and transforming learning outcomes across the region.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed on May 7, 2026, in Abuja between AFFiT and Hon. Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo, APC Senatorial Aspirant for Benue South Senatorial District.

The partnership marks one of the largest teacher-focused professional development initiatives in the region and reflects a shared commitment to improving education standards through innovation, training, and educator empowerment.

Following the signing ceremony, the Director General of AFFiT presented books to the library of Hon. Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo as a symbolic commitment to learning, knowledge development, and educational advancement.

Under the agreement, AFFiT will provide intensive capacity development training for teachers in both public and private Nursery, Primary, and Secondary Schools across the nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue South.

The training initiative will focus on:

  • Modern teaching methodologies
  • Classroom innovation and management
  • Leadership and mentorship development
  • Digital and future-ready teaching skills
  • Professional ethics and continuous development
  • Education transformation strategies

To ensure accessibility and effective coordination, the zone has been divided into strategic training hubs:

A. Otukpo / Ohimini Hub

B. Ado Hub

Venue: Ado

C. Okpokwu / Ogbadibo Hub

Venue: Okpoga

D. Apa / Agatu Hub

Venue: Apa

E. Oju / Obi Hub

Venue: Oju

According to the organizers, the training exercise will commence in July and conclude in August 2026, with thousands of educators expected to participate across the various hubs.

The initiative is expected to significantly improve teacher effectiveness, strengthen school systems, and provide educators with practical skills needed to meet the demands of modern education.

Speaking on the partnership, stakeholders described the initiative as a major step toward educational transformation in Benue South and a strategic investment in the future of children and communities across the region.

The program also aligns with AFFiT’s broader mission of promoting innovation, leadership, continuous professional development, and excellence in education across Africa.
