The African Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFFiT) has successfully concluded a statewide Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Training and Fellowship Induction Exercise across the three senatorial zones of Plateau State — Northern, Central, and Southern Zones — marking a major step in strengthening teacher capacity, leadership, and innovation in education across the state.

The exercise, which lasted for over three weeks, brought together teachers, school leaders, principals, and education administrators from across the state for intensive two-day professional development trainings and fellowship induction ceremonies held in each zone.

The initiative was designed to equip educators with modern teaching skills, leadership capacity, innovative classroom practices, and professional networking opportunities aligned with AFFiT’s vision of transforming education through empowered educators.

Over 100 educators were officially inducted as new Fellows of AFFiT during the statewide exercise, including teachers, principals, and education leaders committed to driving excellence and innovation within their schools and communities.

The Plateau State CPD and induction exercise was conducted in phases across the three senatorial districts:

  • Northern Zone
  • Central Zone
  • Southern Zone

Each zone hosted a two-day training program focused on:

  • Innovative teaching methodologies
  • Leadership and mentorship development
  • Classroom transformation strategies
  • Professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Education innovation and collaboration

The training sessions created opportunities for educators to engage, learn, share experiences, and strengthen professional relationships across institutions and communities.

The final phase of the exercise was held in the Southern Zone of Plateau State, where another set of educators, including principals and the zonal director, were formally inducted into the AFFiT fellowship community.

In addition to the fellowship inductions, AFFiT also announced and inaugurated new zonal coordinators who will oversee activities, coordination, membership engagement, and program implementation within the Northern, Central, and Southern Zones of Plateau State.

The newly appointed coordinators are expected to strengthen AFFiT’s grassroots presence, expand professional development opportunities, and support the growth of innovative education practices within their respective zones.

Speaking during the induction activities, AFFiT leadership emphasized the importance of continuous professional development in improving learning outcomes and building future-ready education systems across Africa.

According to the organization, the Plateau State exercise reflects AFFiT’s commitment to building a strong network of educators who are equipped not only to teach, but also to lead transformation within schools and communities.

The successful completion of the statewide induction marks another important milestone in AFFiT’s growing presence across Nigeria and its broader mission of promoting innovation, research, mentorship, leadership, and excellence in education throughout Africa.

With over 100 new fellows now inducted in Plateau State alone, AFFiT continues to expand its continental network of educators committed to collaboration, innovation, and sustainable education development.

Together, AFFiT is building a new generation of innovative educators for Africa.
