FELLOWSHIP

AFFiT Fellowship Programme

The AFFiT Fellowship Programme is a flagship professional development and research advancement initiative of the African Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFFiT). It is designed to strengthen academic leadership, deepen research capacity, and enhance the professional relevance of educators across Africa. The programme provides a structured platform for lecturers, researchers, and education professionals to grow intellectually, professionally, and socially, while contributing meaningfully to the transformation of teacher education and learning systems.

The Fellowship was established to address critical gaps in research productivity, leadership preparedness, innovation, and welfare support within the education sector. Through a well-defined framework, the programme empowers Fellows to move beyond routine classroom teaching into impactful scholarship, policy engagement, mentorship, and institutional leadership at national and continental levels.

The AFFiT Fellowship Programme is open to lecturers and academic staff in Colleges of Education, Universities, and Polytechnics, as well as education researchers and teacher educators who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, innovation, and educational development. Fellows are selected based on their readiness to contribute to knowledge creation, institutional advancement, and the broader goals of education reform in Africa.

Participants inducted into the Fellowship are formally recognized as AFFiT Research Fellows and gain access to a comprehensive professional ecosystem. This includes opportunities for research grants, academic publishing, national and international conferences, leadership development programmes, and policy engagement platforms. Fellows also benefit from continuous professional development in research methodology, educational technology, ICT integration, and innovation, alongside mentorship, collaboration, and academic exchange opportunities.

The programme delivers value through structured induction ceremonies, conferences, seminars, workshops, and specialized training sessions that promote collaboration and knowledge sharing. Distinguished Fellows may also contribute to advisory and governance structures, supporting strategic decision-making and strengthening institutional linkages within the education sector.

Through the Fellowship Programme, AFFiT is building a growing network of highly skilled and ethically grounded educators and researchers who are improving teaching quality, advancing research culture, and influencing education policy across institutions. The AFFiT Fellowship Programme represents a long-term commitment to academic excellence, leadership integrity, and the sustainable development of education in Africa.
