Elevating Primary and Secondary School Educators

AFFiT recognizes that classroom teachers and school leaders are the heartbeat of Africa’s education systems. Yet, many face poor recognition, low morale, and inadequate support despite playing a foundational role in shaping young minds. The Fellows of AFFiT (FAF) program exists to honor and empower these frontline educators, primary and secondary school teachers, head teachers, and school leaders, who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and commitment to community development.

Restoring the Prestige of Teaching:

AFFiT addresses the declining status of the teaching profession in Africa by transforming how society views, supports, and empowers teachers. Through this fellowship, educators are inducted into a respected continental community of professionals committed to 21st-century teaching practices, inclusion, mentorship, and educational equity.

What Sets Fellows of AFFiT Apart:

  •       Innovative Teaching: Fellows use creative, technology-driven, and learner-centered approaches to improve outcomes.
  •       Community Impact: They extend their influence beyond the classroom, mentoring, initiating projects, and building inclusive school cultures.
  •       Professional Development: Through AFFiT’s network, fellows access CPD, leadership training, webinars, and opportunities to present and publish their work.
  •       Mentorship: Fellows are equipped to mentor student teachers and early-career educators, fostering a cycle of excellence.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria:

Teachers are nominated based on their qualifications, teaching experience, innovation in pedagogy, measurable student impact, and community engagement. Candidates must be certified and registered by relevant authorities and exhibit a clear track record of excellence and leadership.

Responsibilities of Fellows:

  •       Mentor student teachers during teaching practice.
  •       Implement AFFiT’s teaching models in their classrooms.
  •       Share insights through AFFiT platforms (webinars, publications, forums).
  •       Contribute to education reform and school-based research initiatives.

A Milestone, Not a Finish Line:

Induction as a Fellow of AFFiT is both a recognition and a call to greater impact. Fellows become part of AFFiT’s broader strategy to drive innovation, policy engagement, and teacher-led transformation across Africa’s schools.

By empowering classroom educators, AFFiT is investing in the future of African learners, communities, and nations. The Fellows of AFFiT are not only educators, but they are also change makers, thought leaders, and architects of a better tomorrow.
