Welcome to the African Women in Research, Education and Leadership Advancement Project (AWIRELAP) National Women in Education Consultation.
AWIRELAP is undertaking a national consultation to better understand the experiences, needs, challenges and opportunities affecting women and girls across Nigeria.
The consultation brings together the voices and perspectives of educators, researchers, women professionals, students, community stakeholders, policymakers and other members of the public.
Your contribution will help inform the development of appropriate programmes, interventions, research initiatives, partnerships and opportunities that respond to the realities of women and girls across Nigeria.

Why This Consultation Matters
The information gathered through this consultation will help AWIRELAP to:
- identify major challenges affecting women and girls;
- understand regional educational and research needs;
- identify opportunities for women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship;
- understand barriers affecting girls’ education and development;
- identify leadership and participation gaps;
- examine security, cultural and social challenges affecting women and girls;
- identify priority areas for research, intervention and partnership; and
- support the development of evidence-based programmes and initiatives.

For this reason, the consultation uses region-specific questionnaires to ensure that local realities, challenges, opportunities and recommendations are properly captured.
