ABOUT AFFiT AND OUR FOUNDING ORGANIZATION

A Movement Rooted in Purpose, Vision, and Impact

The African Forum for Innovative Teachers (AFFiT) is an educational platform established by Standtall Africa Initiative, an international non-governmental organization fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria and recognized by the Federal Ministry of Education (PPP/NGO Unit) with a registration number FME/NGO/RN/22/010, among other relevant government agencies. As the founding body of AFFiT, Standtall Africa Initiative leads with a bold vision to transform education across Africa through innovation, strategic leadership, and meaningful partnerships.

AFFiT is committed to elevating the standards of education on the continent by empowering educators at all levels with the skills, tools, and mindset required to navigate and shape the future of learning. Our core mission is to train, develop, and inspire a new generation of African teachers through groundbreaking pedagogical approaches, continuous capacity-building programs, strategic collaborations, and evidence-based policy advocacy. We envision a continent where teachers are no longer underprepared or undervalued, but are equipped, respected, and positioned as transformational leaders within their communities.

In collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, AFFiT and its founding organization have sustained a 10-year Effective Reading and Research Campaign, which has recorded remarkable achievements across Nigeria and beyond. Over this period, we have distributed more than 70 million textbooks and essential reading materials to schools, educational institutions, ministries, agencies, royal palaces, faith-based centers, public libraries, etc. building a culture of reading and academic inquiry from the grassroots to the national level. Additionally, Standtall Africa Initiative has trained and equipped over 55,000 educators in leadership development, modern pedagogical methods, and digital teaching strategies. In partnership with local and international institutions, we have awarded 100 Ph.D. scholarships to deserving educators and financially supported more than 2,000 teachers in establishing educational initiatives in their communities. Our deep investment in students has led to over 22,000 pupils in primary and secondary schools receiving full study scholarships across Africa, while 5,000 undergraduates in universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education continue to benefit from our support to pursue disciplines of their choice.

In furthering our commitment to research and innovation, Standtall Africa Initiative has funded over 400 distinct research projects through collaborations with universities, polytechnics, and research centers across the continent. These projects continue to provide data-driven insights and contribute to the broader goal of education reform and development. We have also refurbished and upgraded more than 170 school libraries, equipping them with over 60 million textbooks, instructional resources, and reference materials to foster an environment of curiosity, inquiry, and academic excellence. These libraries now serve as hubs for effective reading and knowledge dissemination for learners and teachers alike.

AFFiT has also made significant strides in state-level teacher training. Between 2023 and 2025, the Forum successfully trained over 20,000 teachers across several Nigerian states, with more training underway. Alongside this, hundreds of educators have been inducted into AFFiT as life members, recognizing their commitment to innovation, leadership, and excellence in teaching.

Another key milestone in our journey is the strategic partnership with the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE). Through this partnership, AFFiT is empowering both lecturers and student teachers across Nigeria’s Colleges of Education in core thematic areas such as leadership development, capacity building, early reading promotion, entrepreneurship, and ICT integration. As part of this engagement, AFFiT inducts lecturers as Research Fellows and student teachers as Student Members for Life, thereby formally integrating them into a growing network of educators committed to reimagining and reforming education on the continent.

Through these strategic interventions and transformative collaborations, AFFiT continues to redefine what it means to teach, learn, and lead in Africa. Now, we invite you, the next generation of educators, to take your place in this movement.
